5 Days in Morocco: 3 Itineraries from Marrakech (2026)

With 5 days in Morocco, base yourself in Marrakech and choose one theme: Marrakech + a 3-day Sahara loop to Merzouga; Marrakech + the Atlas Mountains (Imlil, Ourika) and the Agafay desert; or Marrakech + Essaouira on the Atlantic. Trying to add Fes and the Sahara in 5 days means too much driving.

Itinerary 1 — Marrakech and the Sahara
- Day 1: arrive, evening at Jemaa el-Fna.
- Day 2: guided medina tour, Bahia Palace, Majorelle Garden.
- Days 3–5: 3-day Sahara tour to Merzouga via Ait Benhaddou and the Dades valley, back in Marrakech on day 5 evening.

Itinerary 2 — Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains
- Days 1–2: Marrakech highlights.

- Day 5: Ourika Valley or a sunrise balloon flight before your flight.
Itinerary 3 — Marrakech and the Atlantic
- Days 1–2: Marrakech.
- Day 3: drive to Essaouira (2 h 45) with an argan cooperative stop.
- Day 4: Essaouira — port, ramparts, beach, sunset on the Skala.
- Day 5: return to Marrakech or fly from Essaouira.
Use a private transfer to Essaouira or the Essaouira day trip if you prefer not to sleep there.
What not to do in 5 days
Do not try Marrakech, Merzouga, Fes and Chefchaouen together — that is 1,500 km of road. Save it for our 7-day itinerary or 10-day itinerary.
